  • Title: Point-of-Care Ultrasound Facilitates Bedside Diagnosis of Appendicitis With an Appendicolith in a Pediatric Patient.
    Author: Pade KH.
Journal: Pediatr Emerg Care; 2018 Nov; 34(11):818-819. PubMed ID: 30395074.
    Abstract:
A previously healthy 5-year-old boy presented to the emergency department with a history of tactile fevers, cough, congestion, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain. He had diffuse abdominal pain on examination and pain with ambulation. Emergency point-of-care ultrasound was used to diagnose appendicitis with an appendicolith. The diagnosis was confirmed by a radiology-performed ultrasound, and he was taken to the operating room for an appendectomy.
