Abstract: In case of vaginal delivery herpes genitalis of pregnant women is the main reason for infection of the new-born. According to Anne Yeager, 2.4% of pregnant women with a past history if HSV infections are asymptomatically shedding herpes viruses at term without manifestation of a herpes infection of the new-born in most cases. The reasons for this could be: a sufficient antibody titre of the new-born (diaplacental transmission of maternal antibodies; term infant.
