Abstract: Patients with acute or chronic decompensated heart failure (ADHF) present with various degrees of heart and kidney dysfunction characterizing cardiorenal syndrome (CRS). CRS can be generally defined as a pathophysiologic disorder of the heart and kidneys whereby acute or chronic dysfunction of 1 organ may induce acute or chronic dysfunction of the other. ADHF is a challenge in the management of heart failure.
