Title: The diagnosis and treatment of impotence. Impotence Study Group of Western Australia. Journal: Med J Aust; 1988 May 16; 148(10):494-8. PubMed ID: 3367817. Abstract: The management of 745 impotent men is described. Assessment consisted of history-taking, physical examination, biochemical screening, nocturnal penile tumescence studies and appropriate radiological studies. Based on the results of the nocturnal penile tumescence studies, impotence could then be classified as organic (52% of men), psychogenic (34% of men), mixed (11% of men) or of unknown aetiology (3% of men). Treatment options included: sexual counselling, hormonal replacement therapy, the intracavernosal injection of drugs to induce an artificial erection, ligation of the dorsal penile vein and penile implantation surgery.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
