    Abstract:
A rare complication of therapeutic abortion using vacuum-aspiration method in a 38-year old woman is described. Indication for abortion was the presence of Rubeola antibodies in the serum. The procedure was carried out under general anesthesia. Bimanual examination indicated normal adnexi uteri and parametrium. Examination of vacuum-curettage specimen showed fragments of an abdominal organ, which was provisionally identified as the appendix. At histological examination the tissue was identified as the fallopian tube. The patient underwent emergency surgery. Exploration laparotomy showed a round perforation at the site of the right uterine horn, absence of the right fallopian tube, and profuse hemorrhage from the horn and parametrium. Perforation was closed with 3 hemostatic sutures.
