    Abstract:
    Surgical was applied to 36 cases of open tibial shaft fractures at the author's department, between January 1st, 1975 and May 31st, 1986. The osteitis rate amounted to 8.3 per cent, while pseudo-arthrosis was recorded from 14 per cent of all cases. All infections and pseudo-arthroses were cured, and no amputation was necessary. Two and more operations were required in 28 per cent. The cases described in this paper are classified by medical records and outpatient documentation.
