    Abstract:
    Data on the importance of hormones in the regulation of bone tissue are presented. The results of studies on the direct and mediated action of growth hormones, prolactin, somatomedins, insulin-like growth factors, parathormone as well as thyroid and steroid hormones on bone tissue are summarized. Information on the modifying effect of hormones on the development of induced osteosarcomas in animals and analysis of clinical data on the role of hormones in the pathogenesis of human osteosarcomas are given.
