  • Title: [Comparative morphological evaluation of the changes in the early and late stages of endemic nephropathy].

Journal: Vutr Boles; 1986; 25(6):38-41. PubMed ID: 3564434.
    Abstract:
A comparative evaluation of the morphological changes from the early and late stages of endemic nephropathy is made on the base of biopsy and necropsy material. Thickened basal membranes partial obstruction and microaneurysms of the capillary of glomeruli are established during the early and late stages as well as thickening of mesangium but contrary to the early stages, sclerosis in interstitium and glomeruli develops in the late stages. Various dystrophic and necrobiotic changes in epithelium of the tubules are established during all stages of endemic nephropathy as well as intensified functional activity in epithelium of some tubules. Whereas edema in interstitium is established in the early stages of the disease, sclerosis in interstitium is established in the late stages, involving secondarily the glomeruli and tubules, as a result of dystrophic and necrobiotic changes in the tubules, and their collapse, in their late stages, is due to the progressively advancing sclerosis of interstitium, involving the glomeruli and inducing atrophic alterations in the tubuli.
