    Abstract:
    Since 1977 the tibial part of knee joint prostheses has only been implanted after adequate "straightening" of the tibial plateau, and a tibial "resection" has in most cases been avoided. In the study reported here, the authors examined the bone characteristics after "straightening" and "resection." The results show that the tibial plateau must not be resected too generously if it is to accept a prosthesis. In addition, new data relating to alloarthroplasty were established.
