Abstract: The ultrastructures and surface protein profiles of aerobically cultured Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans (Haemophilus actinomycetemcomitans) differed from those of cells cultured anaerobically. Similar ultrastructural differences were also observed when aerobic and anaerobic cultures of a strain of Escherichia coli were compared.
