Title: A review of treatment modalities for periodic migrainous neuralgia. Author: Wake M, Hitchcock E. Journal: Pain; 1987 Dec; 31(3):345-352. PubMed ID: 3696749. Abstract: Ten cases of periodic migrainous neuralgia are reported. Clinical details of the cases including presentation and clinical course are typical of this condition. Treatment of these 10 cases encompasses medical, minor surgical and major surgical procedures. The results demonstrate that if medical treatment fails or there are severe drug side effects, trigeminal rhizotomy may be effective in producing long-term pain relief. If pain recurs or trigeminal rhizotomy is ineffective, section of the greater and lesser superficial petrosal nerves should be considered.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
