Title: A strumal carcinoid primary in the ovary. Author: De Wilde R, Raas P, Zubke W, Trapp M, Weidenhammer HG, Luis W. Journal: Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol; 1986 Apr; 21(4):237-40. PubMed ID: 3709923. Abstract: A primary ovarian carcinoid tumour of insular strumal type in a 78-yr-old patient is reported. Strumal carcinoid of the ovary is a rare tumor of germ cell origin characterized by an intimate mixture of thyroid tissue and carcinoid. Correct diagnosis depends on a pathologic examination with the use of special stains. Because of its benign character, the treatment is primarily a surgical one and consists of a simple oophorectomy or salpingo-oophorectomy.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
