Cerebral vascular malformations are congenital anomalies of the development of the cerebral vascular tree due to defective maturation of the embryonic vascular system. In terms of pathological anatomy they may be classified into: telangiectasias, cavernous angiomas, venous angiomas and arteriovenous malformations (AVM). After a review of the site, macro- and microscopic aspects, the most common pictures related to each particular site are described.
