  • Title: [Intra- and postoperative dysregulations of blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, respiratory frequency and blood glucose in operations of tumors in ventricles I-III].
    Author: Woschick E.
Journal: Zentralbl Neurochir; 1986; 47(1):46-51. PubMed ID: 3727867.
    Abstract:
218 patients who were operated on because of processes in the region of the ventricles I to III, among them 101 tumours of the third ventricle (29 pinealomas) were examined with respect to intra- and postoperative dysregulations of the vital parameters blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, temperature and blood sugar. The evaluation included anaesthetic and intensive therapy records. Among the intraoperative phenomena, derangements of the blood pressure and the heart rate were dominating, bradycardiac and tachycardiac reactions showed the same frequency. In the postoperative stage, regulation disturbances of the heart rate and the temperature were predominant, other dysregulations occurred less frequently. The lethal dysregulations occurred in the first to the third decade from 75% to 64.1% and 27.6% and are reflecting the development of microsurgery, anaesthesia and intensive therapy. After the analysis of the treated patients, a rejection on principle with respect to interventions in the region of the third ventricle does not appear to be justified.
