    Abstract:
    Starting from the problem of psychological care for patients during rehabilitation following myocardial infarction the concept of a theme-centered group programme is presented. The essential goals of the programme are helping patients cope with the crisis of infarction, reducing risk factors, and changing coronary-prone Type A behaviour. The specific situation of a patient following myocardial infarction as well as typical defense mechanisms and coping styles are discussed.
