Title: [Arthrodesis of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the large toe]. Author: von Salis-Soglio GF, Gebler-Rothlaender B. Journal: Z Orthop Ihre Grenzgeb; 1986; 124(3):288-92. PubMed ID: 3751242. Abstract: Since it was first described by Clutton in 1894, numerous techniques for arthrodesis of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the great toe have been proposed; the most common methods are described. At the Orthopedic Clinic of Lübeck Medical School, arthrodesis of this joint has been performed since 1975 using a small fragment plate. The surgical technique and postoperative management are outlined. The results are described on the basis of follow-up examination of 76 patients (95 arthrodeses). They are in conformity with other figures cited in the literature, with a high consolidation rate of over 95%. The positive rating by the patients thus treated (80% very good and good) are, in our opinion, strong arguments for adopting this method on a broader scale in Europe also.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
