Is the jaundice due to a surgically correctable or medical condition? One method to resolve this problem is the determination of levels of serum lipoprotein-X. A review of the literature concerning lipoprotein-X and pertinent clinical trials suggests that the determination of levels of serum lipoprotein-X, by itself, is of little value, but measurement after a two-week course of cholestyramine therapy can provide significant information regarding the presence of extrahepatic obstruction.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
