  • Title: Thigh and leg compartment syndrome in the absence of lower extremity trauma following MAST application.
    Author: Kunkel JM.
Journal: Am J Emerg Med; 1987 Mar; 5(2):118-20. PubMed ID: 3828012.
    Abstract:
This report describes a patient with massive hemoperitoneum secondary to a gunshot wound. The patient sustained no lower extremity trauma but developed a thigh and leg compartment syndrome after application of military antishock trousers (MAST). This is an unusual complication, but if it is recognized and treated promptly, further morbidity can be avoided.
