Journal: Oral Surg Oral Med Oral Pathol; 1985 Dec; 60(6):567-70. PubMed ID: 3865126.
    Abstract:
The acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is characterized by a selective suppression of the immune system that renders patients susceptible to infection by a variety of opportunistic organisms. Among these is Mycobacterium avium intracellulare. AIDS victims often have oral manifestations of Kaposi's sarcoma and candidiasis. This article reports an unusual oral presentation of disseminated infection with Mycobacterium avium intracellulare in a patient with AIDS.
