Title: Giant peripheral ossifying fibroma of gingiva: a diagnostic workup. Author: Sekizhar V, Veerappan A, Thirunavukarasu S. Journal: BMJ Case Rep; 2024 Sep 12; 17(9):. PubMed ID: 39266035. Abstract: Reactive lesions of the oral cavity are non-neoplastic proliferations occurring due to chronic irritation. Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a reactive lesion usually occurring on the interdental papilla. POF is predominantly found in the second decade of life with a definitive female predilection. This is a case report of a middle-aged male patient with gingival overgrowth in left lower back tooth region. Clinically, the lesion was asymptomatic, firm, pale pink and sessile but unusually large in size. Surgical excision of the lesion was done followed by histopathological confirmation with emphasis on the diagnosis. The case in question is interesting because of its large size and location.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
