Title: Treatment of cryptococcosis in three cats, using ketoconazole. Author: Pentlarge VW, Martin RA. Journal: J Am Vet Med Assoc; 1986 Mar 01; 188(5):536-8. PubMed ID: 3957764. Abstract: Ketoconazole was effective in the treatment of cryptococcosis in 3 cats. A dosage of 10 to 15 mg/kg of body weight was given once or twice daily with a meal for 11 to 33 weeks. Fungal cultures and serotesting were used to assess the efficacy of treatment and resolution of active infection. In some of the cats, the treatment was associated with gastrointestinal signs and increased serum liver enzyme activity. Ketoconazole has been used in human beings, dogs, and cats for the treatment of systemic mycoses.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
