Title: Is amyloid A (AA) amyloidosis always secondary? Author: Maury CP, Törnroth T, Wegelius O. Journal: Ann Rheum Dis; 1985 Apr; 44(4):273-6. PubMed ID: 3985695. Abstract: The case is reported of a patient with systemic AA amyloidosis associated with non-specific mesenteric lymphadenitis and chronic sideropenia. Renal, small bowel, and rectal biopsies showed amyloid deposits containing AA protein, as defined by potassium permanganate sensitivity and by reactivity with AA antiserum. Reversal of the nephrotic syndrome occurred during steroid-azathioprine therapy.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
