Title: Reduction of mutagenic activity of aflatoxins after UV-irradiation. Author: Kleinwächter V, Koukalová B. Journal: Acta Biol Med Ger; 1979; 38(9):1239-42. PubMed ID: 399142. Abstract: Solutions of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 and solid films of aflatoxin B1 were irradiated with UV light of wavelength corresponding to the absorption band of aflatoxins at approximately 365 nm (approximately 27 500 cm-1). The reaction was followed spectrophotometrically. Simultaneously the mutagenicity of samples of aflatoxins was determined using Salmonella typhimurium/mammalian microsome test. UV-irradiation caused a modification in all aflatoxins studied (in aqueous and nonaqueous solutions as well as in a solid film); the final photoproducts lost completely the mutagenic activity.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
