Title: Ear reconstruction with a flap from the medial surface of the auricle. Author: Elsahy NI. Journal: Ann Plast Surg; 1985 Feb; 14(2):169-79. PubMed ID: 3994262. Abstract: Correction of defects of the external ear following trauma or partial amputation for cancerous lesions is difficult. A flap from the medial surface of the auricle has been devised to correct the deformity. The flap is either introduced through the cartilaginous framework or passed around the edge of the helical cartilage for reconstruction of the lateral surface of the ear. The small part of the flap that passed underneath the auricular skin or through the auricular cartilage is deepithelialized. Six patients have been treated with this technique; they have had at least one year of follow-up and good postoperative results.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
