  • Title: Mass balance of base equivalents during hemodialysis: importance of organic acid anions.
Author: Assomull V, Vreman HJ, Weiner MW.
Journal: Proc Clin Dial Transplant Forum; ; 8():137-41. PubMed ID: 40220.
    Abstract:
Acid-base changes during hemodialysis cannot be calculated solely from the balance of acetate and bicarbonate. Organic acid losses strongly influence acid-base balance during hemodialysis. Changes in organic acid concentrations might alter acid-base balance in hemodialysis patients.
