Title: [Mechanism of the protective effect of adaptation to hypoxia on the development of allergic arthritis]. Author: Meerson FZ, Frolov BA, Afonina SN, Smoliagin AI, Filippov VK. Journal: Biull Eksp Biol Med; 1985 Oct; 100(10):403-5. PubMed ID: 4052600. Abstract: It has been established that adaptation of Wistar rats to high-altitude hypoxia led to a reduction of inflammatory lesions occurring in adjuvant arthritis. It has been shown that the mechanisms associated with a decrease in the content of mediators (serotonin, histamine) of the chemical and pathophysiological stages of allergic reactions formation in the adapted animals underlie the protective effect of adaptation. Adaptation to hypoxia appreciably lowered the sensitivity of the sensitized rats to serotonin.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
