Title: Pasteurella ureae meningitis as complication of skull fractures. Author: Yagupsky P, Simo A, Gorodischer R. Journal: Eur J Clin Microbiol; 1985 Dec; 4(6):589-90. PubMed ID: 4092703. Abstract: The case of a six-year-old boy who developed meningitis three months after a skull fracture is reported. Blood and cerebrospinal fluid yielded Pasteurella ureae. A two-week intravenous course of ampicillin and chloramphenicol resulted in full recovery. Two of the other four cases of Pasteurella ureae meningitis reported in the literature occurred after skull fractures, and one after intracranial surgery. The child described here is the youngest reported patient with meningitis due to this rare pathogen.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
