  • Title: Evidence for anti-antibodies in positively stained immune complexes.
    Author: Robinson JP, Schuffman SS.
Journal: Immunology; 1971 Jun; 20(6):883-93. PubMed ID: 4104283.
    Abstract:
Uranium acetate has been shown to be an effective positive stain for examining thin sections of ferritin—rabbit anti-ferritin complexes in the electron microscope. Although this procedure does not reveal the fine detail of the reactants it does appear to be a useful staining method. Stained sections of equivalence complex revealed some rather large antigen-free areas which are reduced in size or completely removed by exposure to acid. The stained material in these areas appears to consist of auto-antiglobulins which are produced in rabbits experiencing long term immunization with ferritin.
