Title: Serum immunoglobulin levels in twins. Author: Kalff MW, Hijmans W. Journal: Clin Exp Immunol; 1969 Nov; 5(5):469-77. PubMed ID: 4188215. Abstract: Serum levels of the immunoglobulins IgG, IgA and IgM were determined by single radial immunodiffusion in twin material consisting of eighty-nine monozygotic and forty-two dizygotic twin pairs. Analysis of variance was performed on the quantitative results; there is strong evidence for both genetic and environmental influences on the serum levels of the three immunoglobulins; a genetic influence is apparent in both males and females, but an environmental influence could only be analysed without the distinction according to sex, because the subgroups were too small for separate analysis. The results are discussed and compared with data from the literature.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
