    Various methods of hormonal contraception are described, with emphasis on the mechanism of action of oral contraceptives. The classical combination preparations, sequential preparation, the ''once-a-month'' pill, the ''minipill,'' estrogens and progestogens as postcoital contraceptives, the ''Swedish'' pill, injectable depot contraceptives, and steroid implantations are discussed.
