Abstract: The activity of phenylethanolamine-N-methyl transferase, an enzyme that synthesizes adrenaline from noradrenaline in the adrenal medulla, is markedly depressed following hypophysectomy. Enzyme activity is restored to normal after administration of ACTH or the potent glucocorticoid, dexamethasone.
