Title: Effect of low-dose progestogen-estrogen combination (WL-20) on the menstrual cycle of sexually active women of childbearing age. Author: Sartoretto JN, Moraes R. Journal: Contraception; 1974 Aug; 10(2):127-34. PubMed ID: 4418507. Abstract: Experience with an experimental oral contraceptive formulation (WL-20) containing 750 mcg of dl-norgestrel per tablet, equivalent to 375 mcg of the active form of d-norgestrel, and 30 mcg of ethinyl estradiol is related. 778 sexually active women of child-bearing age of proven fertility attending 4 family planning clinics located in different areas of Brazil were selected for study. Administration of WL-20 to the women provided 100% contraceptive protection, a regularization of cycles, and minimal adverse reactions in 5231 cycles of use. The use of life table strategy to estimate acceptability, the techniques of Treloar and coworkers to study cycle patterns, and the use of general and direct questioning techniques to study adverse effects are presented.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
