  • Title: Sperm-agglutinating activity in serum of vasectomized men.
Author: van Lis JM, Wagenaar J, Soer JR.
    Journal: Andrologia; 1974; 6(2):129-34. PubMed ID: 4422012.
    Abstract:
The production of sperm-agglutinating antibodies in the serum following bilateral vasectomy was studied in 52 men. In addition, the effect of vasectomy on serum levels of uric acid was investigated. 60% of the subjects showed sperm agglutins in their sera within 1 year of surgery, and in most cases sperm-agglutinating activity appeared between 6 weeks and 6 months following vasectomy. Serum levels of uric acid after surgery were slightly higher, but not significantly higher, than those before surger (.1 less than p less than .2).
