  • Title: [Results of 274 trans-uterine tubal sterilizations by hysteroscopy (author's transl)].
    Author: Lindemann HJ, Mohr J.
Journal: Geburtshilfe Frauenheilkd; 1974 Sep; 34(9):775-9. PubMed ID: 4437568.
    Abstract:
Results of 274 transuterine tubal sterilizations by hysteroscopy are reported, with follow-up of 140 patients. The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia (paracervical blockade); preanesthetic sedation was rarely required. Coagulation at 90 C for 30 seconds was more effective in obtaining tubal occlusion than coagulation at 140 C for 7 seconds, based on follow-up examinations. Best results were obtained during the early proliferative phase of the cycle, when tubal endothelium is less developed. Complications were seen in 2 cases: pelvoperitonites (1 patient) and intestinal burn (1 patient) and were easily treated. No other complications have been observed in over 1600 hysteroscopies for various indications.
