  • Title: Isoenzymes of lactic dehydrogenase in the rat skeletal muscle: the effect of ischaemia and training.
    Author: Mrhová O, Linhart J, Janda J, Urbanová D.
Journal: Cor Vasa; 1972; 20(2):142-51. PubMed ID: 4499918.
    Abstract:
LDH isoenzymes in the red and white muscles fibres of the anterior tibial muscles and changes in the activity of aerobic "H" and anaerobi "M" fractions of LDH in this muscle after ligating the common iliac artery were studied in rats. Ischaemia caused an increase in the anaerobic "M" fraction of LDH. After moderate training or the ischaemic extremities there was a shift in favour of the aerobic "H" fraction. These findings support earlier suggestions about the favourable effect of training on metabolism of the ischaemic muscle.
