  • Title: [Reconstructive surgery in the subclavian steal syndrome].
    Author: Kniazev MD, Glukhov AI.
Journal: Kardiologiia; 1979 Jun; 19(6):67-71. PubMed ID: 459234.
    Abstract:
On the basis of reports in the literature and the authors' personal experience, reimplantation of the subclavian artery into the common carotid artery is recommended as a method of extrathoracic correction of the subclavian steal syndrome. The results of intraoperative flow measurement indicate the hemodynamic efficacy of the suggested reconstructive operation. The advantages of reimplanting the subclavian artery into the common carotid artery are pointed out, one of which is the marked decrease in the number of postoperative complications.
