Title: [FSH and LH values after isertion of intrauterine contraceptives in women with oligomenorrhea]. Author: Stehlíková J, Heczko P, Talas M. Journal: Zentralbl Gynakol; 1973 Dec 14; 95(50):1768-71. PubMed ID: 4780395. Abstract: Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) leve ls as indicators of ovulation were studied in 9 women with oligomenorrhe a (including 3 with uterine hypoplasia) and 5 patients with amenorrhea uterine hypoplasia after IUD insertion. Basal temperature, vaginal cytochemistry, and endometrial histology were also followed. All 5 amenorrheic patients had responded to previous hormone therapy with bleeding. COR and Dana Super IUDs were used. In 7 women of the oligomenorrhea group no changes in serum gonadotropin values were seen. In 1 woman with a 5-7 week anovulatory cycle, FSH and LH peaks during a normal cycle were observed, and she became pregnant 3 months later. In 1 woman, peak values were seen both before and after insertion. Menstru al cycles were regularized in 8 of the group. No gonadotropin peaks were noted in the 5 amenorrheic patients.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
