Title: Pineal gland: 24-hour rhythm in norepinephrine turnover. Author: Brownstein M, Axelrod J. Journal: Science; 1974 Apr 12; 184(4133):163-5. PubMed ID: 4815721. Abstract: There is a 24-hour rhythm in the turnover of norepinephrine in sympathetic nerves innervating the pineal gland. This rhythm persists in blinded animals but is suppressed in normnal rats by light. The rhythm in norepinephrine turnover generates the rhythums in pineal indoleamines and N-acetyltransferase.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
