  • Title: [Anterior falcate artery in adults: histology of the relation of superior sagittal sinus, dural vein and the arachnoid granulations].
    Author: Müller F.
Journal: Acta Anat (Basel); 1979; 104(3):287-318. PubMed ID: 484192.
    Abstract:
The anterior falcate artery, which is the continuation of the anterior ethmoidal, supplies the dura mater in the region of the superior sagittal sinus as far almost as the coronal suture. Graphic reconstructions show its relationships to the veins, the sinus, and the arachnoid granulations. Histological studies of the artery emphasize its adaptation to longitudinal stretching. The complexity of its relationships suggests a functional significance beyond that of nourishing the dura.
