    Abstract:
    Response to a letter in which Dr. J.R. Sampson expresses an antiabortionist position which espouses the restriction or destruction of the 1967 Abortion Act in Great Britain states that the real and long-term issue is that if the numbers of legal abortions are restricted, it is the poorer, least educated, and most inadequate women who will be deterred from obtaining abortions and will therefore give birth to unwanted children. Thus the real legacy of the antiabortion compaign will be that society will have to carry the additional burden of a new group of unloved and deprived children.
