Title: Nephrotic syndrome in monkey infected with human quartan malaria. Author: Voller A, Draper CC, Shwe T, Hutt MS. Journal: Br Med J; 1971 Oct 23; 4(5781):208-10. PubMed ID: 5000504. Abstract: A splenectomized aotus monkey infected with human quartan malaria (Plasmodium malariae) developed oedema and proteinuria. Histological examination revealed a generalized diffuse glomerulonephritis and immunofluorescent staining showed granular deposits of IgM in the glomeruli. The pathological picture resembled that shown by human patients with the quartan malaria nephrotic syndrome.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
