    Abstract:
    The role of the radiologic technologist involves frequent psychosocial transactions and interpersonal relationships. The technologist is called upon to utilize knowledge and skills in the area of human relations in relating to patients, functioning on the allied-health team, and carrying out administrative tasks. This article focuses upon the role of the radiologic technologist as a psychotherapeutic enabler and counselor. While it is well recognized that the technologist does not function as a psychotherapist in the complete sense of the term, there are role components that psychotherapeutic in nature. This article explores, analyzes and elucidates these psychodynamic aspects and provides the reader with guidelines for performance in psychosocial role activities.
