Title: [Arterial occlusions due to adverse effects of oral ovulation inhibitors]. Author: Redenbacher M, Krauss J. Journal: Z Allgemeinmed; 1971 May 31; 47(15):811-5. PubMed ID: 5088746. Abstract: Cardiovascular side effects of oral contraceptives in 3 patients are reported. A 40-year-old woman suffered recurrent peripheral arterial occlusions in the left arm and foot during a 2-month period; she had been treated with Lyndiol during this time. A year later, no sign of vascular disease was found. A 2nd patient, 45 years old, with similar symptoms had been treated with Progylut and Duoluton (biphasic preparations). A 3rd patient, 35 years old, had a thrombotic occlusion of the right arteria media cerebri; she had been treated for 5 years with Eugynon and Lyndiol for menstrual irregularity. It is recommended that patients be warned of possible vascular complications before oral contraception is prescribed and that this etiology be considered in the differential diagnosis of vascular accidents.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
