Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic illness defined and classified according to strict criteria of the American Rheumatism Association. Cutaneous disease may complicate RA or the drugs used in its treatment. Cutaneous vasculitis is potentially a prognostic factor in patients with RA. Controversy exists regarding the role of corticosteroids in the development of rheumatoid vasculitis.
