  • Title: [Jaundice caused by ovulation inhibitors].
    Author: Russo G.
Journal: Clin Ter; 1969 Jul 15; 50(1):3-10. PubMed ID: 5386588.
    Abstract:
The problem of icterus due to oral ovulation inhibitors is briefly reviewed. Although relatively few cases have been observed, and the clinical course is usually uneventful, the occurrence of this complication raises questions about the use of oral contraceptives in underdeveloped countries where laboratory procedures can rarely be carried out. Since the etiology of this type of jaundice is unknown, liver disease or any suspicion of impairment of liver function must be regarded as a contraindication to the use of oral contraceptives.
