  • Title: [Primary localization of the pathologic process in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis].
    Author: Zavalishin IA, Shaposhnikov EA.
Journal: Zh Nevropatol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova; 1977; 77(12):1761-5. PubMed ID: 602549.
    Abstract:
The clinico-electromyographical study was conducted in 120 patients with motor disturbances in amyotrophical lateral sclerosis. Comparing the clinical and electromyographical data in different variants of this disease the authors make a conclusion on the simultaneous damage of peripheral and central mononeurons from the very onset of the disease. Along with this the latter is damaged not only primarily, but secondarily as a result of trans-synaptic degerneration due to pathology of the segmental-nucleus motor cells.
