  • Title: Airway hyperreactivity. Clinical treatment with drugs.
    Author: Svedmyr N.
Journal: Eur J Respir Dis Suppl; 1983; 131():313-29. PubMed ID: 6141065.
    Abstract:
At present there is no study indicating that any drug can decrease "primary hyperreactivity". If the frequency of asthma attacks can be lowered this seems to cause a decrease of the induced (?) hyperreactivity. This is proven for DCG and gold and may also be true for steroids and perhaps for other effective anti-asthmatic drugs. The mechanism is probably a decrease of the inflammatory reaction in the bronchial mucosa due to less frequent and less severe asthma attacks.
