  • Title: [The surgical treatment of the hypertrophy of the prostate (author's transl)].
    Author: Wandschneider G, Narath P.
Journal: Wien Med Wochenschr; 1980 May 15; 130(9):302-6. PubMed ID: 6159742.
    Abstract:
Nowadays chiefly three methods are applied in the operative treatment of the obstructive adenoma of the prostate gland: the transvesical, the transurethral and the cryosurgical method. In this paper the indications as well as the contraindications of these methods are discussed. Based on the cases of the own department of urology the transvesical and the transurethral method are compared. It is the author's opinion, that the two methods are of equal value and that the cryosurgical method-a palliative operation-is only competitive in cases, in which the transvesical or the transurethral method is not applicable because of bad physical conditions of the patient.
