Abstract: The Ca2+ ionophore A23187 elicits a transient increase in pancreatic amylase release in vitro, and this is accompanied by a transient decrease in phosphatidyl inositol concentration. Effects of ionophore A23187 and carbachol on amylase release and phosphatidylinisitol breakdown are dependent on medium Ca2+.
