  • Title: [Specificity of lymphocytic reaction to tumor antigens--approaches to a cancer diagnosis in vitro?].
    Author: Muhrer KH.
Journal: Fortschr Med; 1984 Jan 19; 102(3):45-8. PubMed ID: 6199270.
    Abstract:
In this study soluble tumor extracts as antigens were used in the electrophoretic mobility test. 115 cancer-patients, 15 patients with precancerous large bowel lesions and 54 healthy controls were tested. Lymphocytes were incubated with tumor extracts of various organ types and cell migration inhibition was measured. 105 out of the 115 cancer-patients (91%) had positive test results with extracts from identical tumor types; lymphocytic reactions to extracts from tumors of different histiogenesis were weaker or negative. 10 out of 15 patients with colorectal adenomas showed positive results with extracts from colorectal cancer. When 54 healthy controls were tested against the same tumor extracts out of 158 tests 139 were truly negative (90.3%). The differentiating lymphocytic reactions may be indicative for the organ site of an unknown primary tumor.
